The
pelagic version of Pete's Western Series, My Fish, is almost complete. It's
called the Aquarians. A dolphin & a manowar bird are after the same flying
fish. This is a scene a sport fisherman can imagine.
This
past 02-03 season, Pete completed a reduction process & created a
second edition of his father's most notable piece, The Nine Ages of Man.
The reduction process brought the sculpture down to 40" wide &
19" tall. Pete's Nine Ages of Man is an edition of 50 and available for
$14,500.00.
As of 2002, Peter Johnston has been working on two new projects.
The first was originally commissioned by a couple close to Pete, but who has a home in Wyoming, as well as in the Abacos. Their local home is full of Pete's bronze marine life, so they invited him out West. He was inspired by the great wild country of the West and has produce three sculptures consisting of the Western Series inspired by Wyoming.
Ernest Hemingway is also a great inspiration to Pete. The Old Man & the Sea is of special interest to him, as he is an avid fisherman. Three separate sculptures: "Hook Up," "Fend Off," and "Home Bound" tell the story of the Old Man & the Sea in bronze.
